Alexander Burke, Marquess of Elkington, has spent his adulthood drifting from one glittering city to the next, with no real direction and no reason to return home. After discovering the dark secret at the heart of his distinguished family, he left for the continent, hoping to track down his dearest friend who vanished from Eton without a trace years before.
